Strødam

Residential

C. F. Tietgen was a prominent Danish businessman and banker. He played a significant role in the industrialization of Denmark in the 19th century and was instrumental in the construction of Frederiks Kirke, also known as the Marble Church. The church is a stunning baroque building located in the centre of Copenhagen, right next to Nuura's showroom, where visitors can admire its beauty.

In 1875, C.F. Tietgen fell in love and settled with his wife Laura in Gadevang, a beautifully landscaped area north of Copenhagen. Together with architect Chr. Fr. Zwingmann, they built the country house Strødam. The property is made of granite concrete, has a large chipped gable roof, and features 14 gables. For many years, the area and building were closed to the public. However, in 2022, the property was sold to its current owners, who were the first non-family members to own Strødam.

The new owners spent almost two years restoring the property while respecting its history, architecture, and surroundings. The interior features a unique mix of antique furniture and contemporary design, with Liila 1 lamps in dark bronze and nordic gold providing a common thread. Miira 8 Oval lamps have been given central positions in the large dining room and spacious kitchen. They serve as decorative elements that complement the historic building.

Today, there are still references to the Marble Church in Copenhagen on the Strødam property. The stone Tietgen erected when the Marble Church was built still stands on the property. Additionally, a silver ring that was placed around an ash tree, which initially grew at the first ruins of the Marble Church and was later moved to Strødam, is also still present. Nuura's design is yet another way to strengthen the ties to the Marble Church.
